The song is the most representative of the bubblegum pop genre. Sugar, Sugar was a hit #1 during eight weeks in UK and four ones in United States in 1969. Bob Marley made his own version about the song into his CD Natty Rebel. The Archies were a fictional band from the animated TV Series, The Archie Show that it was formed by Archie Andrews, Regige Mantle and Jughead Jones. The members of this fictional band were: Archie (Lead Guitar), Betty (Tambourine, Percussion), Reggie (Second Guitar), Jughead (Drums), Veronica (Organ, Keyboard) and Hot Dog the mascot. Some of the real voices were made by Ron Dante and Toni Wine. Two years ago, the song was inducted at the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame thanks to Andi Kim who co-wrote the song with Jeff Barry.
