Mariah Carey debuted at the end of 80s with her self-title album. Since her first singles she proved the world her amazing talent with a powerful voice with different ranges. The lead single of the album was Vision of Love which was co-writen by Carey and Beng Margulies. The song a super hit worldwide made Mariah win a Grammy Award for Best Pop Singer on Grammy Awards in 1991.

In early 80s one of the most popular bands was Imagination which received more than a dozen silver discs worldwide. Imagination was formed in London, England by Leee John, Ashley Ingram and Errol Kennedy.
The signature song of the band is Just an Illusion, a funk single co-written Ashley Ingram, Leee John, Steve Jolley and Tony Swain. The one was included in the second studio album entitled In the Heat of the Night.
Just and Illusion has been used as cover for several singers like Mariah Carey who released it on her album “The Emancipation of Mimi” in 2005.
Last album of this band was “Fascination of The Physical” in 1990 but unfortunately, it was an absolute failure and the reason they finally split two years later.

More than a Feeling is the signature song of the American rock band, Boston. The single was written for its iconic member, Tom Scholz. The one was included in the self debut record in September, 1976. The song has been used many times in movies (the last one was in the comedy Zookeeper, 2011) and television.
VH1 included More than a Feeling as the 39th Best Hard Rock of All Times.
Boston album received more than 15 platinum certified by jumping over the studio album by Guns N’ Roses “Appetite for Destruction”.
The band continues active and until now, it has released sixth albums. The last record, “Corporate america. Artemis” was relesaed in 2002.
The other legend on the band, Brad Delp comitted suicide in March, 2007 and five months later, the band came together in a Tribute Concert in Boston.

Many people don’t forget the debut album by Enya. Watermark spread all over the world quickly because Enya showed different ranges of her beautiful voice. The conclusion? People in 80’s loved much more New Age genre.
Watermark included two of her most popular singles: “Storms in Africa” and Orinoco Flow. This last single was released in 1988 as the lead single of this record by reaching the peak position at number one in different countries.
The title of the single has been reason of speculations. Some people have said it is a reference for Orinico river in Venezuela because it appears in the music video. Other people have ensured the title is a reference to Orinoco Studios.
The song was re-released ten years later and it was also known as “Sail Away”, one phrase is repeated in the chorus.
Enya has released nine records between them two compilation albums. “A Day without Rain” has been her best-selling record which she released in 2000 but it became so popular after 9-11 event.
The artist is currently working in new record.

American Woman was the single that inspired the sixth studio album by the popular Canadian rock band, The Guess Who. The song is one of its hits together to “Share the Land” and “These Eyes”. The rock song co-written by Randy Bachman, Jim Kale, Garry Peterson and Burton Cummings was released in March, 1970 while the whole album was on stores in January in the same year. The one also included to remarkable singles of this band, “No Time”, a remake version and “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature” which also reached the peak position at number one.
The Guess Who showed people in Canada, they could have an international success like the most important bands at that moment. In My Place has back to music charts after it was re-released a live recording from Glastonbury Festival 2011 to digital download. The song was originally included in the second album by Coldplay in 2002. In My Place won a Grammy Awards for Best Rock Performance by a Duo Group with Vocal at next year.
The successful single was co-written Chris Brown, Will Champion, Jonny Buckland and Guy Berryman. The lyrics has been acclaimed for its deep message that talks, according to the same Brown, about how you need accept yourself and how you are threw into this world.
Coldplay is working now in their fifth studio record which is expected to be released in Autumn 2011. The title of this new album hasn’t been revealed yet but the band has already shown the lead single, “Every Teardrop is a waterfall” last month.
While they finished their new work, the band continues performing along Europe and Asia.

Sisters Bonnie, Ruth, June and Anita Pointer formed the soul group, The Pointer Sisters in 1971. The group was inspired on singers like Aretha Franklin. The sisters drifted apart quickly seven years later when Bonnie decided to continue her career alone.
Together got their first hit with the single “Yes, We can can”, a cover version of the song by Allen Toussaint in 1973. Without Bonnie, the attention was focused on her so the rest of the sisters released the single “Fire”, a version performed by Bruce Springsteen and a song that represented their return.
This single ushered in a new road by introducing a urban style. The hit I’m so excited is one of these singles written by the Ruth, June and Anita together to Trevor Lawerence.
I’m so excited was included into the album So Excited! in 1982 and two years later, on the record “Break Out” when was included a remix version.

The Pretenders is one of American rock bands with more changes during its years in activity. The only former member who has stood up to all the scandals and drug abuses has been Chrissie Hynde, the vocalist. The rock band was one of the representative bands of the new wave which was originated at the end in 70s.
One of the popular hits is Don’t Get me Wrong which made part of the second band Hynde organized in 1982, time when they released a single for their return “Back on the chain Gang”, another of its popular singles. Don’t Get Me Wrong was written by the same Hynde. The one became so popular because its music video included a kind of tribute to the TV series “The Avengers”. The one was also used as a cover on the comedy film, “Gung Ho” directed by Ron Howard in 1986.
Don’t Get Me Wrong was included in the fourth album entitled “Get Close” which got a song written by Jimi Hendrix, “Room Full of Mirrors”.
The last album released by the band was 2008 with the record entitled “Break Up the Converte” that included two discs, one of them with their hits with singles like: I’ll Stand by You, Brass in Pocket and Middle of the Road.
