The original song was first recorded by the American band The Strangeloves. The single was included on their self titled album released in 1965. 17 years later, the British band Bow Wow Wow included it on their EP The Last of the Mohicans in 1982. The song became in one of his popular singles in the United States. The one was ranked at #8 on the 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders fo the 80s, while VH1 ranked it at #86 on its 100 Greatest Songs.
