The Pretenders is one of American rock bands with more changes during its years in activity. The only former member who has stood up to all the scandals and drug abuses has been Chrissie Hynde, the vocalist. The rock band was one of the representative bands of the new wave which was originated at the end in 70s.

One of the popular hits is Don’t Get me Wrong which made part of the second band Hynde organized in 1982, time when they released a single for their return “Back on the chain Gang”, another of its popular singles. Don’t Get Me Wrong was written by the same Hynde. The one became so popular because its music video included a kind of tribute to the TV series “The Avengers”. ┬áThe one was also used as a cover on the comedy film, “Gung Ho” directed by Ron Howard in 1986.

Don’t Get Me Wrong was included in the fourth album entitled “Get Close” which got a song written by Jimi Hendrix, “Room Full of Mirrors”.

The last album released by the band was 2008 with the record entitled “Break Up the Converte” that included two discs, one of them with their hits with singles like: I’ll Stand by You, Brass in Pocket and Middle of the Road.

Don’t get me wrong
If I’m looking kind of dazzled
I see neon lights
Whenever you walk by

Don’t get me wrong
If you say hello and I take a ride
Upon a sea where the mystic moon
Is playing havoc with the tide
Don’t get me wrong

Don’t get me wrong
If I’m acting so distracted
I’m thinking about the fireworks
That go off when you smile

Don’t get me wrong
If I split like light refracted
I’m only off to wander
Across a moonlit mile

Once in awhile
Two people meet
Seemingly for no reason
They just pass on the street
Suddenly thunder, showers everywhere
Who can explain the thunder and rain
But there’s something in the air

Don’t get me wrong
If I come and go like fashion
I might be great tomorrow
But hopeless yesterday

Don’t get me wrong
If I fall in the ‘mode of passion’
It might be unbelievable
But let’s not say so long
It might just be fantastic
Don’t get me wrong
