Sisters Bonnie, Ruth, June and Anita Pointer formed the soul group, The Pointer Sisters in 1971. The group was inspired on singers like Aretha Franklin. The sisters drifted apart quickly seven years later when Bonnie decided to continue her career alone.
Together got their first hit with the single “Yes, We can can”, a cover version of the song by Allen Toussaint in 1973. Without Bonnie, the attention was focused on her so the rest of the sisters released the single “Fire”, a version performed by Bruce Springsteen and a song that represented their return.
This single ushered in a new road by introducing a urban style. The hit I’m so excited is one of these singles written by the Ruth, June and Anita together to Trevor Lawerence.
I’m so excited was included into the album So Excited! in 1982 and two years later, on the record “Break Out” when was included a remix version.
