With The Sounds of Silence the American duo Simon and Garfunkel got their biggest recognition. The song was written by Paul Simon as a way of capturing the emotional trauma felt by the majority of Americans when the President John F. Kennedy was killed on 22nd November, 1963. Simon & Garfunkel were ranked #40 on 2004 Rolling Stone list of the 100 Greatest Artist of All Time. During 2007, they were inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2007. On March 25, 2008, it was released a live material titled Live 1969 which included songs like: 59th Street Bridge Song, Mrs. Robinson, Bridge over Troubled Water, I Am a Rock, Kathy’s Song, For Emily, Whenever and Why Don’t You Write Me.

The entire title of this song is Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) which was released in 1957. The single talks about dock workers working the night shift loading bananas into ships. Although the song is not original from him, he was who made the one so popular. It had a debut television performance on the series The Muppet Show. Edric Conner was the first artist who included the single on the album Songs From Jamaica in 1952. During that time, the song title was Day De Light. Harry Belafonte is a Jamaican American musician who has dedicated his last years on supporting humanitarian causes. His last compilation album was The Essential Harry Belafonte in 2005 which included classics like: The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Abraham, Martin & John, Zombie Jamboree and Jamaica Farewell.
