American Woman was the single that inspired the sixth studio album by the popular Canadian rock band, The Guess Who. The song is one of its hits together to “Share the Land” and “These Eyes”. The rock song co-written by Randy Bachman, Jim Kale, Garry Peterson and Burton Cummings was released in March, 1970 while the whole album was on stores in January in the same year. The one also included to remarkable singles of this band, “No Time”, a remake version and “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature” which also reached the peak position at number one.
The Guess Who showed people in Canada, they could have an international success like the most important bands at that moment. The band was the Canadian answer to great rock bands or groups like Beatles and Beach Boys. The first step was given when they released “Shakin’ All Over” which was included on Top 40 in U.S.
“Bachman-Cummings Song Book” was the last compilation released, however, they use to join to do concerts and release live albums. The last of them includes 16 tracks recorded in 2009 at the Island show Room in Harris, Michigan.
