Many artists have recorded this oldies song, but the most popular was made by The Animals into their album Talkin’ Bout You which was released in June, 1964. The version recorded for this band was a number one hit in the United States, Canada, Sweden and United Kingdom. In spite of the popularity of the song, its writter is uncertain. The House of the Rising Sun has been ranked at #122 on the Rolling Stones listo of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and during 1999 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame Award. The band was active until 1984. Five years ago, they released their last compilation album titled Retrospective. This year, one of their other famous singles was used on the third season of the series Heroes, the song used was We Gotta Get Out Of This Place.
