After the death of Freddie Mercury and the retirement of John Deacon in 1997, their other two former members, Brian May and Roger Taylor have been doing performings under the Queen name.

This is one of the most popular songs from Queen, that it has been used for sporting victories very often like Australian Football League, UEFA Champions League Cup, World Cup, Grand Prix, FIFA World Cup and Olympic games. Besides, it has made part of some movies and television series like Chicken Little (2005), The Simpsons in two episodes, A Kinight’s Tale (2001) among others. The most important peak position reached for this single was at #2 on UK Singles Chart. We Are The Champions has been certified gold in France for 624,000 sales in 1978 and certified platinum in United States during the same year. Freddy Mercury said that the lyrics was thinking about the football. The fans members were invited to participate in the filming of the music video, when the video was shot, Mercury gave a free concert in 1977. The entire album was an absolute hit in Canada, Netherlands, France and Portugal where it was at #1.
