After song Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?, this single was the most popular into her debut album titled This Fire. The song reached the peak position at number 11 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100. I Don’t Want to Wait also made so popular because on the lyrics had a big grammatical mistake when Cole used the subject “I” after a preposition on the line: “And say a little prayer for I”. For this debut material, Cole won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Her last project, Courage, was released in 2007.
